The person making the reservation must be over 18 years of age.

Not showing up for the reservation

If the customer does not show up and does not contact Punta Base, the reservation will be considered a no-show.

No-shows are not refundable, without prejudice to the rights that belong to the consumer under applicable law.

Changes and travel delays

Reservations may be modified before their scheduled start time, subject to availability.

Any price difference must be paid before the change is confirmed.

In the event of an unexpected and justified travel delay, Punta Base may offer a change of date or time one time only as a courtesy, subject to availability.

Late arrival and early departure

Arriving after the reservation start time does not automatically extend the original end time.

If the customer removes their belongings or stops using the service before the reservation ends, the unused time is normally not refundable.

Extending a reservation

If you need more time, request an extension before your current reservation ends.

Extensions are subject to availability and to Punta Base's current rates.

Customers must collect their belongings before the reservation ends or contact Punta Base to request an extension, subject to availability. If belongings are not collected when the reservation ends, overstay charges may apply in accordance with Punta Base's overstay policy.

Overstay

We understand that plans can change.

Punta Base offers a grace period of 30 minutes after the reservation end time.

After this period, the following charges may apply:

  • From 30 minutes to 3 hours$100 MXN
  • From 3 to 12 hours$200 MXN
  • From 12 to 24 hours$300 MXN
  • From 24 to 48 hours$300 MXNfor each additional period of up to 24 hours

Staying beyond the reserved time does not guarantee continued availability of the same locker or storage space.

Belongings not collected after 48 hours

Punta Base has limited space and does not operate as indefinite storage for uncollected belongings.

Belongings may remain at Punta Base for a maximum of 48 hours after the reservation ends.

During this period, Punta Base will make reasonable efforts to contact the customer using the details provided with the reservation.

If the belongings are still at Punta Base after 48 hours, Punta Base may remove them from the reserved locker or space and move them to a designated external location for safekeeping.

A handling and transfer fee of $500 MXN may apply, in addition to the reasonable costs actually incurred for transport and external storage.

Where reasonably possible, Punta Base will document the general condition of the belongings when removing and moving them.

Unclaimed belongings may be kept in safekeeping for a period of up to 30 days from the original end date of the reservation.

After this period, they will be handled in accordance with applicable Mexican law.

Additional charges and payment method

Where the customer has expressly authorized such charges during the reservation process, and provided the payment provider and applicable law allow it, Punta Base may charge the payment method associated with the reservation for overstay, damage, extraordinary cleaning, handling, transfer and external storage.

Charges must correspond to previously accepted rates or to reasonable, documented costs.

This authorization does not allow Punta Base to charge for additional services unrelated to the reservation or not authorized by the customer.

Prohibited items and activities

Punta Base maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward illegal or dangerous activities on its premises.

It is prohibited to store:

  • Firearms or ammunition.
  • Explosives or fireworks.
  • Weapons or objects intended to be used as weapons.
  • Illegal drugs or controlled substances whose possession is unlawful.
  • Stolen goods.
  • Items related to criminal or illegal activities.
  • Gasoline, fuels or other highly flammable liquids.
  • Gas cylinders.
  • Explosive, corrosive, toxic or hazardous substances.
  • Damaged, swollen or otherwise hazardous batteries.
  • Hazardous biological materials.
  • Animals or other living beings.
  • Any item whose possession is prohibited under Mexican law.
  • Any object or substance that could reasonably put customers, staff, facilities or neighboring businesses at risk.

Punta Base may refuse or end the service when there is a reasonable safety concern or suspected illegal activity.

In case of suspected weapons, illegal drugs, explosives or other potentially dangerous materials, Punta Base staff are not obliged to physically handle such items and may contact the competent authorities where appropriate.

Food and perishable products

Storing perishable food or products that require refrigeration is not allowed.

Products that may spoil, spill, produce strong odors, attract insects or contaminate other belongings are also not allowed.

Sealed drinks and packaged non-perishable snacks are allowed.

When a product causes an immediate hygiene, contamination or safety problem, Punta Base may remove or discard it when reasonably necessary and in accordance with applicable law.

Wet surf gear, sand and water

Punta Base is made for life before & after the wave.

Wet surfboards, wetsuits, towels, beach bags and normal surf gear are welcome.

We only ask that you:

RINSE. SHAKE. STORE.

Before storing your gear in a closed locker, remove as much excess water, sand and mud as you reasonably can.

The normal dampness of surf gear and the reasonable wear associated with this type of storage are entirely expected.

It is not allowed to:

  • Leave excessive amounts of water pooled inside the locker.
  • Pour water into the locker.
  • Wash gear inside the locker.
  • Store containers that leak.
  • Store gear with excessive amounts of mud or sand without first removing the excess.
  • Block the ventilation areas.
  • Hang heavy or wet gear from parts of the locker that are not designed for it.

Punta Base does not offer climate-controlled storage or a drying service.

The customer should consider whether their wet gear is suitable to stay stored for long periods in a closed space.

When improper use or excessive amounts of water, sand or mud cause damage beyond normal wear, reasonable cleaning or repair costs may apply.

Damage to Punta Base facilities or equipment

Customers will be responsible for damage that they, or the people who use their reservation, cause intentionally, through negligence or through misuse.

This may include damage to lockers, electronic locks, charging equipment, doors, surf racks, showers, rental items or other Punta Base property.

Normal wear from use is not considered damage caused by the customer.

When there is damage attributable to the customer, Punta Base may charge the reasonable, documented cost of extraordinary cleaning, repair or replacement.

Beach towels

Beach towels are rented with a deposit. A towel rented with a locker booking is rented for the period of that booking. A beach towel can also be rented on its own until closing time on the same day. If the towel is not returned by the end of the booking, or by closing time when it is rented on its own, the deposit is retained.

PIN and locker access

The customer is responsible for keeping their PIN or other access credentials private and secure.

If the PIN is lost or forgotten, Punta Base may resend it or reset access after carrying out the corresponding verification.

The first PIN resend, or normal assistance to recover access, is free of charge.

For security reasons, knowing only the locker number is not enough to gain access.

Punta Base may ask for reservation details, phone number, email, identification or other reasonable information to verify the holder before providing access.

Punta Base will not knowingly give a third party access without the corresponding authorization of the reservation holder or another lawful basis that allows it.

Privacy and emergency access to lockers

Punta Base respects the privacy of its customers and their belongings.

Punta Base does not routinely inspect the contents of closed lockers.

However, Punta Base may access a locker when reasonably necessary because of:

  • An emergency.
  • A credible health, safety or security concern.
  • Suspicion of prohibited items or illegal activity.
  • A leak, fire risk or other situation that could endanger people or property.
  • Maintenance needed to prevent immediate damage.
  • An expired reservation with uncollected belongings.
  • A legal request or obligation from a competent authority.

Any access must be reasonably limited to what is necessary under the circumstances.

Belongings and valuables

Punta Base provides secure storage services but is not an insurer or a bank vault.

Normal travel belongings may be stored, including luggage, surf gear, phones, laptops, cameras and passports.

We recommend not storing unusually large amounts of cash, precious metals, high-value jewelry or items of exceptional value.

The customer is responsible for deciding whether a particular item is suitable for storage.

Loss of or damage to the customer's belongings

Punta Base will take reasonable steps to look after stored belongings and to provide its services properly.

Punta Base will not be responsible for loss or damage caused exclusively by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, the customer's own actions, misuse, inadequate packing, defects in the item itself, or storage contrary to these Terms, except where applicable law provides otherwise.

If a customer believes that Punta Base caused the loss of or damage to a belonging, they must report it as soon as reasonably possible and provide the available information or evidence.

When Punta Base is legally responsible for a loss or damage, any compensation will be assessed taking into account the circumstances, the reasonable current value of the affected item and applicable Mexican law.

Any contractual limitation of liability will apply only to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Nothing in these Terms limits the consumer's rights or Punta Base's responsibilities that cannot legally be excluded.

Indirect damages or losses

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Punta Base will not be responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising, for example, from a customer arriving after closing time, including missed flights, buses or other transport, lodging, appointments, commitments or business opportunities.

The above does not limit any responsibility that legally corresponds to Punta Base.

Operating hours

Access to Punta Base services is subject to the published operating hours.

Locker access is available during Punta Base opening hours only.

For 24-hour and multi-day reservations, the reservation continues overnight, but physical access to the lockers is available only during opening hours.

The customer is responsible for arranging to collect their belongings before closing.

Access outside normal hours is not guaranteed unless Punta Base has expressly confirmed it.

Weather and surf conditions

Normal changes in weather, swell or surf conditions do not automatically give rise to a right to a refund when Punta Base remains open and the reserved service continues to be available.

If Punta Base must close or cannot provide the reserved service because of severe weather, an official emergency or another extraordinary circumstance, an appropriate solution will be offered according to the circumstances, such as a change of date, credit or refund, in accordance with applicable law.

If Punta Base cannot provide the service

If Punta Base cannot provide the reserved service because of an operational problem attributable to Punta Base, we will first try to offer a suitable alternative or an upgrade at no additional cost.

If there is no reasonable alternative, the customer may receive, as appropriate, a change of date, credit or refund for the affected service.

Refunds

Approved refunds will normally be made to the same payment method used to make the reservation.

The time needed for the refund to appear will depend on the corresponding bank or payment provider.

Reports and claims

If a belonging is damaged or missing, or there is any problem with the service, please tell Punta Base as soon as reasonably possible.

When possible, we recommend reporting visible damage before leaving Punta Base and providing photographs, receipts or other available information that helps establish what happened.

Failure to report the issue immediately does not affect any rights the customer may have under applicable law.

Acceptance of the terms

By completing a reservation, the customer confirms that they have had the opportunity to read and accept these Terms and Conditions, including the cancellation, overstay, prohibited items and storage policies.

These Terms are governed by the applicable law of Mexico and do not limit the non-waivable rights that belong to the consumer.
